"A couple of years ago the state of Mississippi declared March 27th Paul Thorn Day. I felt so honored to get recognized in such a way. I was presented with a guitar at the Capitol Building that was shaped like my home state. At first, I thought it would be something cool to hang on my wall as a keepsake or memento of the occasion. As I held it, I realized it wasn't just some cheap instrument thrown together to use as a trophy. It was a world class guitar. I started playing it and now it is the main guitar I play every night on stage. At first it had not been painted. It was just bare wood in need of some type of finish. As a visual artist I decided to paint it myself. I entertained many different ideas as to what the artwork on it should be. After much thought and consideration, I decided to cover the guitar with a portrait of my fans. At the end of the day they are the ones who keep my career alive. They come to see my shows again and again all over the country. I love them all and want to dedicate this project to them. — Love always, Paul Thorn”
